Mark is a renaissance man (modest eh?!). He has worked across more than 15 different sectors including print and broadcast media, fine and decorative art, education, medical science, financial services, retail, software & IT, economic development, local government, national government, tourism,  heritage, sports, hospitality, e-commerce, digital publishing, wine, and food. 

These roles have mainly been in marketing and communications, strategic and economic development but he has developed lots of useful transferable skills such as partnership building; agency, client and stakeholder management , budgetary and staff management; planning, events, networking , business development, design and writing skills.

Recent work (2006/7) has involved being the Project Manager of Devon's £1.2m Discover Devon Naturally Sustainable Tourism Project - grossing over £40m worth of sales for the Devon tourism industry in its 3-years and has generated or safeguarded over 500 jobs (way and above the £8m target for the whole project). His role is central in developing an environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism industry for the County. 

He has played a key role in the development and re-positioning of the new brand for Devon (currently underway) and contributing to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site (Vice Chair of Tourism & Marketing) and Devon & Cornwall Overseas Marketing (Chair of Marketing). He has also input into Renewable Energy 4 Devon, Tourism Skills Devon , the North Devon Brand and the Devon Regional Destination Management System . He has managed staff and budgets and have supported his colleagues in an advisory capacity and assisted on the appointment and tendering of several agencies. 

From a County perspective he has represented Devon on the Imerys Minerals mining closure and both in my County role and externally has assisted several businesses with marketing and business plans / development including  ColdHarbour Mill, Vino, Effings, Pebblebed Vineyard, Coast Communications and Envision. He also writes a wine column for Devon and Cornwall Food Magazine with another title in the pipeline.  

In October 2006 he delivered an MBA lecture at Exeter University on Brand and Integrated Marketing to a packed lecture hall.

As of end-May 2007 his fixed contract expires...........and has been seconded, on a short term basis, to the Organisational Improvement Unit for the County.
