Cheap Albarino? Rocky 'll have something to say about that.

For those who are in the 'know' you will have woken up (some time ago) to the potential of Spain's classiest white wine, Albarino. I go weak at the knees at its massive acidity married to a full, rich, lemony, peachy, apricoty, nutty body. This is without doubt where its at with Iberian white. Yet it's not cheap...it's not uber-expensive either. But penny-for-penny I think I squares up to any white, any time, anywhere.  Its the Rocky Balboa of whites: fleet of foot, rapier quick, but packs a mighty punch. Drink this and you'll be seeing stars in no time.

Pazo Serantellos Albarino 2005, Tesco, £4.99 (on special offer, down from £7.99).
Crumbs! Where can you get an Albarino for under a fiver?! Never had one until now. Tesco is where! Whilst it's not in the same class as the Albarino stocked at Foodeaze (more of that later) this is a fantastic budget buy. You never get this grape at this price! A low cost introduction to this fabulous grape. Go and buy a bottle now whilst it is still on offer. You would be crazier than a sunstruck Ibex, but less sure-footed, if you didn't!
